I only wish the Superdome was shaped like "The Igloo" (The Civic Arena) in Pittsburgh. It is shaped like an upside down hemisphere. I'm not crazy about the shape of that building in NO with those winds coming!
Btw, someone earlier had a Freudian slip and called it The Superdoom.
Of course the Superdome saved New Orleans before. Does anyone remember that made-for-TV movie where the killer bees invaded New Orleans, and they defeated the bees by driving them into the Superdome then turned down the A/C in the dome to kill bees off?
LOL!
If something like Katrina hit the 'Burgh,
yinz know that WPXI would send Dee Thompson out to cover it at 2 in the morning.
(But only if the temperature was below 20° F)
"I work hard in all kinds of weather to cover breaking news for the morning shows."
~ Dee Thompson
That poor sob has truly earned my respect.
IMHO, he deserves some kind of award for shouldering some of the crappiest news coverage assignments in broadcast history.
The Dome will become a huge "petri dish". Barf.
Normally, I'd be LOL at that one.
If the roof blows off that thing, whoever was responsible for the design is going to feel awful bad about it. It reminds me of what an umbrella does when you try to open it in a very strong wind.
Thanks for that link, shezza. And Dog Gone, I'm beginning to picture potentially thousands of people dying in this thing. I gotta get away from the television! Fox keeps saying words like "catastrophic," "devastating," "ferocity," "enormous".... Yikes. And when is Shep going to get his rear end out of there?!
