We need to pray for those in positions of authority. The governor and the mayor. Regardless of their political affiliation and beliefs, they are in those positions and we need to ask God to give them wisdom and guidance in this time. We need to also pray for the others in authority, like police and firemen and emergency personnel. They will be making quick decisions that may save lives. So let's all pray for them; BIG TIME.

You are correct. I remember following the governor race when Bobby Jindal came close to winning over Kathleen Blanco. Now he's the Republican Representative in Congress for LA. However, things might have been different if he had become governor. Jindal's extremely smart, and a former member of the Bush admin (HHS). I think he would have reacted better to the perceived danger and evacuated the city earlier.
You can pray for them but the decisions they have already made have doomed hundreds if not thousands....
They should hang for their incompetence.....
The school district in NO moves more than 100K kids a day....Load them up and move the people out towards Houston or Jacksonville....
This problem didn't just sneak up on them....this planning should have been awaiting implementation of a evacuation order........
