Geeeze, I always thought you DID open windows a crack--not so, though, eh? You know that for a fact? (I need for future reference in FL)

Cracking windows is a bad mistake. Even the worst hurricane/tornado will only change air pressure by 10% - not enough to collapse or explode a house. But wind blowing into a house can lift the roof right off.

Thank you, Nittany. I shudder to think what might have happened if we had been closer to the eye when we waited out Hurricane Andrew in Miami...I'll know better in the future.
