Correction, there are NOT lots of refineries in New Jersey, that is a myth. There are only 6.

Refineries: Distillation capacity of 615,000 Barrels Per Calendar Day (BCD) (2005)
Amerada Hess Corp. (Port Reading @ -0- BCD*) *Downstream capacity only
Chevron USA Inc. (Perth Amboy @ 80,000 BCD)
Citgo Asphalt Refining Co. (Paulsboro @ -0- BCD*) * 51,000 BCD Idle on 1/1/05
Sunoco Inc. (Westville @ 145,000 BCD)
ConocoPhillips (Linden @ 230,000 BCD)
Valero Refining Co. New Jersey (Paulsboro @ 160,000 BCD)

Lol, I know. I live just a couple miles the other side of the Delaware. PA has about the same number of refineries, but greater capacity overall (and DE only has one refinery, in Delaware City). I was speaking collectively in terms of the region. Sorry for not clarifying.
