How many floors does that hotel have? If at least 3, and preferably 4 or 5, then he should likely be ok, unless there is a tornado. With 5 floors or 4 and an attic level the lower 2, or at most 3 would see the flooding, the roof might come off the top one, but the 3rd or 4th floor should be fine. It is amazing what people have survived before, even if they had to cling to logs for 12 hours. Its the elderly, infirmed, and kids that are at most risk.
It exploded, sorry....
Link.
I think NO has a huge, poor population.
Here's shep............
Having watched the storm the past few days, I would have left last night or at the latest this morning when it became a cat 5. Sadly, most of the people at the dome are poor and elderly, and don't really have a choice. I fear that the dome won't stand (it has only been tested to withstand 130 mph wind gusts) and we'll lose 20,000 americans. My prayers are with those at the dome.
Thanks for the updates.
Folks may have to drive all the way to Minneapolis to find a hotel room!
Good LORD girl...it sure is good to see you- we've been wondering about you all day...thanks for checking in:)
well I would say this, if this indeed does turn out to be hyped or exaggerated as you say - the credibility of the entire US weather forecast and national hurricane center, is finished. they will never be able to generate any public credibility for evacuation in subsequent events.

NO is mainly poor. The East is lots of section 8 housing.

Heard that live. It WAS funny, some much needed levity, although the Fox team wasn't laughing, just apologizing. Shep said "He's right, it IS none of my business!" lol
Like ordering brandies on the Titanic.
I trust she's over attack of the giggles
I'm surprised she made it thru her lastest report about the potential for a disease calamity without laughing when she read the word plague.

When my daughter and her hubby were taking us to the atlanta airport today, My son in law said "maybe we should take control of your parents and make them stay here", then daughter said "Yes, one day they will thank us for it".
We laughed and laughed.
COURAGE
When in NO I've stayed at the Hotel Monteleone. It was built early in the 1900s I think, and is at least 20 stories tall and built like a tank. It would be my first choice for a vertical evacuation if I was stuck there, if they're letting people in it.
