Has anyone seen a Shep report lately?

No - I think he was due to do the anchoring of some of the onvernight stuff.........if they can keep a camera link up with him.

Camille hit over Biloxi, so this will be much worse. My parents both grew up in LA and compared this more to Betsy. Mom was only about 6 when Betsy came through and vividly remembers it.

Thanks for thoughts and you're absolutely right but I'd rather have it hit us again than those poor people in NO.

This could be really, really bad.

In my part of Oregon, one doesn't have a proper Mcmansion without a couple of llamas in the front acreage. Llamas appoint themselves as guardians of the other critters.
They regularly kill coyotes and marauding dogs.

Did you hear the officer in the eye of the storm as he spoke to heraldo? He anticipated a beneficial scenerio in the timing of a wall-restructure. Does that make any sense to you? (I know nothing!)

okay, isn't this BS?

The local station quoted Neil Frank or somebody saying there is a pool of cooler water near the coast that could weaken Katrina.

Isn't this a bunch of crap? Everything I have seen shows extremely warm water near the coast.

If the flooding happens as being prdicted now the aftermath of septic fields, oil and other toxins is going to be a big problem.

This was reprted on CNN.
CNN showed a hotel swimming pool that is now the temp. home of 3 Dolphins from a local Aquarium.

That story is what convinced me this is going tobe a worst case scenerio of a storm.

Prayers Up!

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE 904 MB MAX SUSTAINED WINDS 140 KT WITH GUSTS TO 170 KT.

Like Joe Bastardi said, that doesn't quite match. Either the pressure is higher than 904 (unlikely) or the wind speed is more like 180 mph at sea level and they just haven't quite gotten an accurate reading. I suppose above 160 mph it doesn't make much difference.

Well Hugo Chavez said earlier this year he wanted $100 and up to $200 a barrel.... better start that coal to oil production in Montana and in Philadelphia they found a way to make #2 crude (home heating oil) from left over butterball turkey offal (this isn't a joke)... takes a couple of hours from beginning to end.

You also, In America, have the freedom to stand on your head while playing Madonna's "Like a Virgin" on your accordian. But that doesn't mean it's not kind of stupid.

Max Mayfield of the NHC just said something to the effect that if the eyewall goes through change, it could expand the wind field.
