PHOTO OF THE DAY: The President makes a statement about Hurricane Katrina and the Iraqi constitution, August 28, 2005. Although he's tanned, he still looks a bit drawn and tired, probably due to tracking Hurrican Katrina. He is getting updates every hour, at minimum, as the storm appears headed directly for New Orleans. The Mayor of New Orleans said everyone should look at the major landmarks in the city, because they may no longer be there in a couple of days. In all likelihood, most of the oil-drilling platforms in the gulf will be destroyed, further driving up the price of oil. In addition, New Orleans is one of the nation's major ports, and damage to the port facilities there will have a significant impact on the regional and national economies.
President Bush arrives to speak to reporters from the hangar at his Crawford, Texas, ranch. Bush on Sunday downplayed the opposition from Iraq's minority Sunni Arabs to that war-torn country's new constitution, which is up for a 15 October referendum.
