To: El Gran Salseron
That is what I was wondering, if this isn't the event that brings on the inevitable swing of the Mississippi River.

The Army Corps of Engineers has already said that one day the river is going to win the fight and that they are just forestalling the inevitable. New Orleans will be a ghost town and the Atchafalya will become the river of choice for a port.

That very well could be. We'll have to wait and see. However, whether or not the river diverts then Katrina will probably see to it that New Orleans will no longer exist.....at least, not as it does today.
