This is like watching an accident unfolding in slow motion..

It is at this moment, but that will all change by late this evening. The emotions I feel are almost overwhelming.

The idiots who are staying. The historical treasures that are about to be permanently destroyed. The lives that will be lost. The economic impact to that state and to our country. The stupidity of the politicians.

It's just so massive that I'm having a hard time grasping it all.

I seldom cry, but I've been crying today.... thinking of what so many are about to endure... and so many of them children.

I have a really weird question...but I have no experience with hurricanes so go easy on me.

Why have they not opened up ALL the lanes of the highway to outgoing traffic. (They could keep one open for incoming emergency vehicles or something.) And why didn't they bring in buses from every place they could think of in the surrounding areas—yesterday—to help get some of these people out of there.

Finally, what the heck are they thinking putting so many people in the Superdome. Are they nuts??
