Ive read so much is it the worst case scenario for New orleans to be on the left of the eye wall ?

It's my understanding that it'd be very bad for NO to be to the right of the hurricane as it comes on-shore. It seems as though the right front quadrant of the storm is where the worst wind damage would come from.

The storm quadrant that is to the east of storm direction is always the worst. The east half worse than the west. Flooding depends on topology.

We are east of Katrina, SWFL and the surge is still a couple of feet above normal -- at this distance. We still have squall clouds going over, but the winds have slacken.

With a Cat 5, it doesn't really matter.
