I'm seeing what you're saying and it is disgusting.
Just save saying anymore.

Wow, thanks for the info. Is there any Java applets for these radars that can be refreshed?

Whoever gave the nickname "The Big Easy" to New Orleans really knew what he was talking about.
The people down there are so laid-back and, well, VERY lazy that they just refuse to protect themselves from disaster.
It is actually a holdover from the French influence.

You can see the rain bands off shore ... tempers may start to flare. Sad.

More likely they consulted with their political advisers to ask if they would lose votes in the next election if it turned out to be something of a false alarm.

Did you see the face of that reporter at the Dome as he is looking at the people in line?
He knows, he knows.

Good grief, they are doing "extensive searches" for drugs and weapons on people trying to get into the Superdome. They're going to have people left out in this killer storm because somebody might smuggle in a crack pipe!

What, exactly is his 'job' again?Endless blathering, supposition, innuendo and sensationalism. I believe that about covers the duties of most reporters.

I agree, you would be best served to have a clear head during such a time. This is just a small list of better things to do than drink within 18 hours prior of a cat5 hurricane making landfall in the worst city possible: Stockpiling any supplies you could find. Make preparations for relocating in case your building does not make it. Watch the weather reports. Making contact with people outside of NO to make sure others would know your plans.

I'd think he was just accepting an assignment. I guess we should just agree to disagree. I'm a Shep fan...you are not.
As someone who was in Pt. Pleasant WV when the Silver Bridge fell, I know all about having a mic shoved in your face and being asked an inane question. In this case, the "idiot" who cursed had no reason to do that. He was laughing. It was low class.

Yep, shipping rates, due to increased demand for rail will definately spike prices on goods, if barge traffic on the Mississippi is affected.

I heard a story in Gulfport or Biloxi after Camille. Maybe it was an urban legend, but there were supposed to be a couple of Catholic priests who stayed through the surge flood in a very modernistic Catholic church near the beach. They climbed as high as they could on a statue, held on with both arms, and survived. This happened while shrimp boats were carried over the tops of 30 foot tall pine trees on Ship Island and wound up on the beach.Cool story.
It also illustrates the frightening fact that in a storm like this nobody can predict what will happen or where.

I'm beginning to wonder how he got this gig instead of Whorealdo.
'cuz if I know Geraldo, he's trying to charter a boat...
Maybe that yellow rainslicker suit isn't back from the cleaners yet.

Thanks, Alan, and thanks for posting the pic by link. I have a good understanding of the stadium shape now.

Ouch. Everything's now agreeing on New Orleans; it's just a matter of which side of town gets the center of the eye.

I had the exact same thoughts, especially about the Dome. I'm really worried about it.
If some here find that "low-class" -- well then so be it.

This Sat view seems to me to have the eye directly south of the Missisppi exit ....
And I thought it was still bearing WNW....
