Noone in science ever denied that Neanderthal was human, just not a MODERN human. Dubois never recanted Homo erectus, and "Peking man" is the Central/East Asian race of Homo erectus. "Nebraska man" was acknowledged to have been a mistake OVER 100 YEARS AGO by THE VERY SCIENTIST WHO FOUND IT (I don't recall if it was Cope or Marsh, but the wildness of the initial claim leads me to believe it was Cope), and it was potassium argon dating which showed "Piltdown Man" to have been a hoax (1950s), as well as the discoveries of additional fossils, such as the Taung Child, described in the 1920s by Raymond Dart.

The debate is whether they are a separate species or a subspecies of homo sapiens. But noboduy considers them to be regular homo sapiens.
