Regarding the airlift...keep in mind that it took six months to move 500,000 troops to the Middle East for Gulf War 1. There are not enough military airplanes to even make a dent in the NO evacuation.
Commercial airlines cancelling passenger flights already out of NO (Armstrong Airport), according to WWL-TV. Getting the planes out of the way of the storm. Danger to anyone staying at terminal due to window glass shattering.
