I wondered that myself - should there be military air assets moved in there now to fly people out.

Bush is giving a speech on the iraqi constitution at 12:30PM. what is wrong with the ehite house communications team, this hurricane could be worse then 9-11, and he is going to talk about iraq today of all days.

Yeah no kidding. What's up with that? I thought that was strange. Anyway, I'm off to Long Beach to check out the waves.

Agreed. Belle Chasse airfield is close, they could be getting every C-130 in range to come and pick people up.

But that would require organizational skills and forethought, as well as picking up the phone and asking for the aircraft, qualities this group doesn't seem to have.

Exactly. If these predictions are anywhere near to be accurate, this is a major disaster. The fact that 100,000 people have no means to leave the city and must be housed in the Superdome, is nonsense. Every effort must be made to get people out even if the President takes it over. Unbelievable. It is easier to get them out now then trying to navigate flooded streets to pick them up from the Superdome after the fact.
