No fan of yellow ribbons here. The message in them is not victory, not even survival. It is cut-and-run.

I'm shocked at your interpretation of "yellow ribbons"! As a military mom whose son served in Iraq, I hung yellow ribbons on our flag pole. They represent our support and gratitude for our troops, and say that we will be here waiting for your return. To say that those ribbons stand for "cut-and-run" is absurd! I'm shocked!

When our son returned, he was honored that we had hung the yellow ribbons.

I understand your position and your son's joy at coming home and seeing them. Yet it seems to me that some folks hang yellow ribbons to mean only "Bring them home."
