It was the machine, I tell! It was the long lines in the abandoned neighborhoods, I tell you! A big Democrat-run city is going bankrupt, and I tell you it's another step in the Karl Rove plan to subject liberty-loving peoples into surrendering liberty to evil, chimp-faced, BusHitler vote-machine-controlling Republicans! This is it, guys, the ultimate Karl Rove tactic, forcibly electing Democrat spendthrift mayors!

The election looms this fall.
The local press, especially the newspapers, have been savaging the mayor, and in fact the stories in this post came from those sources. Don't hold your breath on getting a new mayor, as Coleman Young was in power for some 32 years. Young was savaged by local press, and presided over such fiascos as Devil's Night and a mass exodus of middle-class residents.
It's a shame, because the last mayor was really moving things along nicely.
