A good question. This administration sometimes seems to take the 'never complain, never explain' adage a bit too far.

So they take it too far, and yet win MORE elections? Doesn't Bush always make you think he knows something the rest of us don't? Those on the left, in their infatile stupidity, call Bush a liar because WMD didn't show up in "Stockpiles." (The Left's whole argument) The Left thinks the rest of the country cares about this when every other nation said the same thing about WMD Bush said! All Bush does is keep his mouth shut and lets the LEFT hang themselves with their idiocy because he understands that this country understands what and who we're fighting. Wholey Moley the dems and the left are part of the culture enemy to this country by striking at every institution we hold dear!

Bush doesn't have to explain Jack to the left! They can all go pound sand.

It's not the left we have to worry about; their views have hardened into fossils.

It's the uninvolved, and largely ignorant middle-of-the-roaders who listen to the MSM with half an ear, read only the headlines in the local bird-cage liners and are so preoccupied with their own narrow concerns that they fail to see the dark cloud that advances upon us, fueled by the alliance of an historically violent religion and the anti-American left worldwide.

By the administration's wanting to have its cake -- the wholly necessary war -- and eat it too -- keep the economy rolling without hiccup -- they have failed to both initiate a dialogue about the nature of the enemy -- radical Islam -- or to even name it, and they have failed to secure the borders in direct contradiction to the threat of massive Islamic infiltration which Europe now faces.

As a result, we risk losing that all-important middle, and consequently, the war.

One problem is that currently according to the polls (which he supposedly ignores) only the "true believers" now trust President Bush.

Our country is a republic, not a monarchy or a dictatorship, and so it does matter what the people know and what they think.

I think Hitch is correct in saying that the administration could have and should have done a better job of explaining all of this to the people - "Yes, it must be admitted that Bush and Blair made a hash of a good case, largely because they preferred to scare people rather than enlighten them or reason with them."

I know many people trust President Bush implicitly because they feel he is an honest Christian man. However, I think we should demand at least as much accountability, honesty and explanation from someone "on our side" whom we like as we would expect of a Bill Clinton, just as a matter of principle and good government.
