After having small storms for a couple years, having a big cane here is going to be something we are not used to probably. Even if it is 30-40 miles east of New Orleans or so, great damage will still be done.
I talk to a buddy on a supply boat in Venice and he said one of the outer most bands just crossed over the top of them. I checked the radar, and sure enough.
They're just starting north up the river and plan on riding it out in NO, or Baton Rouge if it gets too bad.
