You have every reason to be afraid, have you called your family there and urged them to try move north until the danger has past? I know that is not always easy to do, but this looks like it could be a real problem. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this scary time.

I've made a couple of calls - the big one will be to my granddad in the morning. On his word, everyone'll do the right thing.

They'll be OK. I'm just a bit skittish, I guess. I keep thinking about that New Orleans doomsday scenario and wondering if this is the bullet that finally hits the bullseye.
