PR Machine Behind Cindy Sheehan? ABC7 Looks At The Financing Of 'Camp Casey'

With the President back at his Crawford ranch, the anti-war protest right outside his ranch is getting a lot more media attention. ABC7 looks at who is financing the operation and who's providing on-the-ground support.

The camp at Crawford is full of Cindy Sheehan supporters, people from all walks of life. But off to the side are a small group of professionals, skilled in politics and public relations who are marketing her message.

Cindy Sheehan kneels before a cross with her son's name on it, touches his picture, wipes her tears. It's an outpouring of emotion that is part of a scheduled news event organized daily for the television radio and print reporters who crowd in to capture a mother's grief.

I helped a little today. Our daughter and I were coming home from B'ham. we both had dr's appts. On the way back home we stopped at the most well know restaurant along the interstates here. Right after we were seated a soldier cam in with his wife or girlfriend. When I saw him I remembered something I read on here about paying for their meals. That is what we did. The waitress said that was the first time that had ever happened.

They are paying the families to go and protest.

Of course they are. Only an idiot would be caught on film with her. The American people can see right through her. The polls all tell Cindy to just go home. They're sick of seeing her fake cry. Enough already.
In the O'Reilly poll, 72% said they have no respect for what she was trying to do.

Well, as Ann Coulter said on Hannity and Colmes tonight...if this had been back during the end of the Vietnam War protests (like these people want it to be), there would be 100,000 coming out for a anti-war protest, not just a couple of dozen...

She said that the left keep finding polls and telling America that over 60% feel the same way as they do...but they can only rustle up a few dozen protestors...with all of the money they have...and they have had 3 weeks to galvanize their "troops"....but, Ann said, "Where are they?"

I can recall seeing a Greyhound bus loading in the Costco parking lot for an Anti-War protest in Washington put on by A.N.S.W.E.R. It is a different group, but many left groups share the technique. I guess the left has access to more people with time on their hands to do protests if they can import them from out of state in large numbers.

The same people keep showing up at the protest rallies over and over. LOL. It's like watching movie reruns!

It is a bit harder to get people to Crawford, TX than it is to a big city like Washington, D.C. I think some of those people getting on the bus I saw were taking a free vacation.

One thing we don't see is a pervasive climate of large Anti-War protests in large cities as in the Vietnam era.

Despite the press handlers’ claims that Sheehan was physically exhausted, she appeared in good spirits. Most of the photos I have seen in the media today reflect the moment where Sheehan was crying. I do think this is somewhat misleading. While she is certainly entitled to her grief, most of the scene was quite jovial, which is not reflected in the mainstream media’s coverage. I’m not denying Ms. Sheehan her right to a cathartic moment, merely bringing you the full story and facts from the ground.
