Talks aimed at persuading Sunni Arabs to back the text of a new Iraqi constitution are to continue on Friday, the country's parliament speaker says.

Hajim Hassani made the announcement as a third deadline passed with no deal.

Earlier, the prime minister's spokesman said some changes had been made. But Sunnis remain opposed to federalism and a negotiator saw no prospect of a deal.

Mr Hassani said whatever the outcome, the text - agreed by Shias and Kurds - would go to a referendum in October.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...This was another one I saw coming a mile down the road. It wasn't that I was opposed to going in and doing the job, I was just so afraid we'd lose the best and brightest again for nothing. Geez!! The women in Iraq will be the losers, again. The lazy lay-about Mullahs will beat them and abuse them and disfigure them.

If people can't see what we're up against, just take a look at the rockets being launched into Israel today, the "freedom" in Iraq swirling down the toilet. You have to ask, how much more are we going to have to see, Lord, before we see You? I get tired of being right. Just once I wish I could be disappointed -- so to speak -- and have these poor Arab sots stand up and do the right thing.

I said it at the outset. A thousand of them isn't worth one of our men or women. The U.N. disgusts me beyond words. The Palestinians are worse than demons from hell. I hope they get a one way ticket there soon. I feel guilty saying it -- it's not the way I was brought up. But, there, I've said it.
