Crawford: Sheehan Supporter Physically "Attacks" Cameraman
NRO ^ | Eric Pfeiffer

Posted on 08/25/2005 12:03:37 PM PDT by hipaatwo

While news cameras were filming the event, Marine Jeff Key physically grabbed a cameraman from San Francisco local affiliate KGO. Key objected to the cameraman’s shooting position, which was on the same site where the protesters have erected crosses listing the names of fallen soldiers in Iraq. Here's a photo from right before the altercation took place:

I asked Mark Matthews of KGO about the alleged assault, “I’m not happy about it. We’re happy to abide by the rules when we know what the rules are. But there was no message communicated to us to stay out of the crosses. And last night, photographers, supporters of Cindy Sheehan, people praying, clapping and singing were here amongst the crosses. 13 hours later, it’s off limits without any notification to us.”

I asked one of Sheehan’s spokeswoman if she condoned Key’s assault of the cameraman. She would not answer my question directly, instead saying, “I think if we all do our fair share, we’ll work to keep everybody out of the way … That’s all we need is to have people stay out of the crosses … I think that’s all being worked out privately. I think the cameraman and the Iraq veteran was doing his best to honor the fallen will work it out.”

Here's a pic of the spokeswoman who refused to answser my question:

If you could get it, you could.

But I'm thinking you'd be stuck using something much less effective.

Isn't that the definition of oxymoron?

Nope. That would be "islamic insanity".

But I guess that's what happens when you try a sideways slam on someone's faith, or lack of it, and then needlessly try to defend your poor choice of words.

Sideways slam on someone's faith? Gimme a break, how did you get to that? And my choice of words were dead on.

They are pretend crosses for Cindy Sheehan's pretend vigil and pretend support of the troops. Those crosses have neither religious nor heartfelt value to Cindy Sheehan. They are props to push an antiwar agenda she had BEFORE her son even enlisted.

You don't know when to quit when youa re behind, do you?

That's good because she looked like an Ellen-level dyke walking through that airport.

Hmmm. And Code Pink is her closest allied group.

Hmmm. And it's run by a Wiccan Priestess named Starhawk.

Hmmm. "Wiccan Priestess" is a thinly veiled code for "Lesbian activist".

Hmmm.

RE the post about Jeff Key coming on sexually to a male Iraqi: If heterosexual American marines did that with Iraqi females and then wrote about the prospect of getting a little ME Poontang on blogs -- imagine the crap that would hit the osterizer in both this country and in the Middle East -- and rightly!

Yet this guy is supposed to get a pass because it's homosexual sex that he seeks among the natives? Yet another shining example of PC double standards. This guy is the WORST kind of pseudo Marine, the WORST kind of person to represent the county so many generations of my family have fought to keep free and honorable. I hope fellow recruits give Jeff Key blanket party.

They are trying to prevent the names from being publicized because relatives have asked for the names to be removed.

How disgusting. They're not only dancing on Casey's grave, but every other mothers son as well. What a disgusting hoard of pigs. I hope America is watching this.

FOX has been reporting the personal attacks on our wounded soldiers in the hospital by these creeps, too.

Why are liberals so angry, all of the time?

They live in darkness. If they ever opened their eyes to see the light - just once - they'd burst into flames.

The "press" will smell blood in the water, and like all good Leftists they will quickly turn on Cindy Sheehan, just as they turned on Kerry in the last few weeks running up to the Election.

The press created Cindy Sheehan, and they will ring the register with her one last time, by showing her unhinged side. -As Sheehan grows Loonier, the MSM will crawl away from her, like parasites looking for a healthier host.

"The press" will have proven that "they" are in charge of the issues by virtue of their abiltiy to "out Natalee" Fox News with the Sheehanitization of America.

Hey Ho!

So in his own words, he was 'out' for 11 YEARS before he volunteered for the Marines..... one has to suspect that his whole Marine stint is done for his politico-sociological agenda, so that he could become a political protestor and hero to the left. Having a war to protest was just icing on the cake, but he knew going in that his "lifestyle orientation" was not acceptable to the military. Did he really just long to defend the Constitution or was his agenda all along the kind of thing being played out now in Crawford, TX???

The Eyes of Babylon
The Tamarind Theatre
The Eyes of Babylon, written and performed by Jeff Key, is billed as "personal struggle to reconcile being part of a war he knows to be illegal and immoral and a profound commitment to the reasons he became a Marine."

In short, it’s an eyewitness account of one man’s struggle to reconcile this government’s rhetoric on the war with the actual events through which he lived.

Through his eyes we learn what it’s like to be the “designated driver” when moving a platoon or a group of soldiers. “They always go for the driver, that way they disable the whole unit”, he half jokes. He brings us face to face with an Iraqi child he befriended, spanning the insurmountable culture differences with a simple act of humanity.
He also exposes how he makes a sexually charged contact with a young Iraqi male, even though their meeting is never consummated.

There is definitely a dichotomy in his life, as his personal journal keeps track of his military adventure while suppressing his personal sexual anxieties.

His deep love for the Marine Corps and his commitment to serve is never in question – but you wonder how a gay Marine manages to enlist and go underground at the age of thirty-four and how he stayed under the radar until he voluntarily “outs” himself on CNN.

Now that he’s speaking out, the folly of the government’s policy on gays in the military clearly points to how the Marines claim to be looking for a few good men, (as long as they’re not gay.) Key is one of the better men, and they let him go because of his beliefs. They obviously aren’t looking too hard.

We recently received an email from a friend, who has seen this play and felt like sharing her feelings with all her friends. The following quote is from a deeply committed professional woman, and her words clearly point out how the play is affecting people:

“ 'The Eyes of Babylon' - A Unique Opportunity to See Iraq in Los Angeles.
As some of you know, I am a budding political cartoonist and am now trying to write some song lyrics on political themes. (I am just learning to draw and I did not take songwriting in law school.) In the meantime, more accomplished artists are doing great things now. There is a play until mid January at the Tamarind Theatre in Hollywood, a one-man show by an actor and former Marine who was in Iraq. The Eyes of Babylon is about Jeff Key's "personal struggle to reconcile being part of a war he knows to be illegal and immoral and a profound commitment to the reasons he became a marine."

In March, on CNN's Paula Zhan Now in front of 5 million people, Jeff (from Alabama) finally came out and used the ban on gays in the military to exit the military and "avoid ever again being asked to take innocent lives for corporate gains." The play was inspiring and mesmerizing and brought tears to my eyes. (The LA Weekly also gave it a very good review. On a lighter note, it did not hurt that Jeff is dynamic, a great guy and "a hunk.) “

One of the tenets of this website has always been that one need not be a theatre critic to be touched by a play. If it has merit, it reaches out to everyone.

Obviously, Jeff Key’s play does.
