Your original post states that the US oil production is less than the US refinery production.
That leads the reader to think that there is no refinery shortage and also ignores the plain-as-day knowledge that US oil refineries also refining imported oil.
'also refining imported oil.'
-------
That should read 'also refine imported oil.'
And it is. US Oil production is less than half of US refinery capacity.
That leads the reader to think that there is no refinery shortage and also ignores the plain-as-day knowledge that US oil refineries also refining imported oil.
No, it should tell the reader that there is a greater shortage in production than refinery capacity. Both are shortfalls, but the need is much greater in oil production. I do not ignore the refinery shortage, but point out the greater problem.
Note the starting date of this post, and the derisive first reply- irony, anyone?
Yeppers! It was jimmuh alright. POS, and worse President we ever had!!!
I agree with everything you say, and also state that we need to drill in the USA for every gallon of oil and gas we can. We must offset and replace every foreign purchase possible, with domestic oil products!
President Bush has already mandated Hydrogen Fuel Cell cars to be on the makrket by 2015. We need to ween ourselves off of heavy dependence on oil, and NOW is the time to start the transition. It will take years, but this is where we are headed.

That is certainly a part of the problem, aided by speculators, and industry conditions that allow excuses to pass muster (refinery capacity etc)!

True enough, but this just proves that there is no shortage of gas. We may have very little extra to go around, but "gas shortage" is a red herring.
See my other responses within this thread. I truly understand conditions.

Your suggestion is good, but your comments should be directed to a post to rally an email campaign to the commerce dept. Please stay on topic. Perhaps we should tell Gale Norton to allow more refineries on Indian Resevations. Yeah, less gambling, more gas, that the ticket.
