As one blogger noted, "Federal withholding is primarily responsible for the lack of tax outrage in this country. When the ignorant masses apply for jobs, they don't care how much their actual salary is, they only want to know what their 'take home' pay is going to be...
"There is also a large contingent of taxpayers that view their tax refund as a good thing. Ask them how much they paid in income taxes last year and they say something like, 'I didn't have to pay anything. I got money back!'"
Right now, the federal government WANTS "ignorant masses" when it comes to the withholding tax. Let's change that.

Here's one for the ping list. It's a step in the direction of the Fair Tax.

While I sincerely believe that withholding should be eliminated, its' never gonna happen. Politicians wouldn't dare educate the public on what we're paying.

Calling Americans "ignorant masses," even if they actually are, isn't a way to garner widespread popular support for this bill.

We need to do everythign we can to get this bill passed.
Liberals, in their insatiable greed and meanness, say that we NEED withholding because most people couldn't afford to pay their taxes. Good. That would cause a tax revolt, whcih we need.
Even if you had people pay quarterly (January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15), you'd get enough outrage to make life difficult for the politicians.

As a self-employed person, I am well aware of what I pay in taxes.
I wonder if the quarterly payments would go out the window, as well.
Doesn't matter - I'm with you - it ain't gonna happen.

This is an issue that we all should consider personally lobbying congress for.Ending withholding would be the first step toward a long march to a return to Freedom in this country and an end to apathy and complacency among the electorate.

Great idea. However, the inability to save that so many Americans posess would almost certainly mean that half the population would have Federal Tax liens on their homes within the year...because tax time would come and they would have spent all their earnings! But I guarantee that even liberals would suddenly be screaming for a tax cut!

Yeah, the government is going to stop collecting taxes and ask people to pay those taxes later?
I'd say this bill is DOA.

However, the inability to save that so many Americans posess would almost certainly mean that half the population would have Federal Tax liens on their homes within the year..We have a winner. And liens on homes doesn't satiate the cahs needs of the government to spend , spend, spend.
