Here's one for the ping list. It's a step in the direction of the Fair Tax.
While I sincerely believe that withholding should be eliminated, its' never gonna happen. Politicians wouldn't dare educate the public on what we're paying.
Calling Americans "ignorant masses," even if they actually are, isn't a way to garner widespread popular support for this bill.
We need to do everythign we can to get this bill passed.
Liberals, in their insatiable greed and meanness, say that we NEED withholding because most people couldn't afford to pay their taxes. Good. That would cause a tax revolt, whcih we need.
Even if you had people pay quarterly (January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15), you'd get enough outrage to make life difficult for the politicians.
I wonder if the quarterly payments would go out the window, as well.
Doesn't matter - I'm with you - it ain't gonna happen.
Those weren't my words, they were in the email I got.
ping
I'd support it in a heartbeat.
Great idea. However, the inability to save that so many Americans posess would almost certainly mean that half the population would have Federal Tax liens on their homes within the year...because tax time would come and they would have spent all their earnings! But I guarantee that even liberals would suddenly be screaming for a tax cut!
Dream The American Dream - ping.
I would venture more than half.
Here's a better idea:
Have everyone pay MONTHLY their federal taxes...right to the Gov't...

These congressmen are here fighting the good fight.Where are the rest of them? Maybe we should ask them!
Fantastic, but when will the Senate pass this?
Yeah, the government is going to stop collecting taxes and ask people to pay those taxes later?
I'd say this bill is DOA.
Yep, I thought the bill also eliminates estimated (quarterly) payments.
We have a winner. And liens on homes doesn't satiate the cahs needs of the government to spend , spend, spend.
