President might visit Rancho
Bush announcing plans on Friday
By Edward Barrera
Staff Writer
Tuesday, August 23, 2005 - RANCHO CUCAMONGA - President George W. Bush might visit Rancho Cucamonga next week, according to a White House spokesman.

Spokesman David Almacy said the president's plans will be finalized and announced Friday.

The president has already announced he will visit Arizona on Monday, but he might also stop in the Inland Empire. While in Arizona, Bush will be discussing Medicare, Almacy said.

Despite buzz around the city that the commander-in-chief might stop by, local leaders pointed inquiries about any presidential visits to the White House or other federal officials.

"We will work in conjunction with the Secret Service and the system in any way we can," said Sgt. John Greco of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department when asked about the possibility of Bush's visit.

In the past few days, the president has visited Utah and Idaho in an attempt to rally support for the war in Iraq. Bush spoke to a national veterans group in Salt Lake City on Monday and today will be giving a speech in Nampa, Idaho. After today's speech, the president is scheduled to have two hours of private meetings with relatives of dead soldiers.

Bush's last trip to the Inland Valley area was right after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger won the recall election in 2003. The president touted his efforts on the war in Iraq and how it helped protect the country against terrorism.

Almacy said the reason that Bush is in Crawford, Texas, is because of the renovation of the West Wing of the White House.

"He's operating on a full schedule, he's just doing it from the ranch instead of from the White House," Almacy said. "The only week he had officially off was this last week."

I've often wondered if people really use a local newspaper for fish wrap. Wouldn't the ink get on the fish?

Not if you freeze it fast.

Re: comment "The SB Sun is fish wrap"

I would point out that the Sun endorsed Bush over Kerry this last November.

Not all MSM are all bad, all the time.... (just MOSTLY!)

Hey, thanks for the compliments (suggesting it be used is compliment to my view! and thanks)...

I redesigned it...newer image, someone suggested they thought mentioning Sheehan's name gave her too much ongoing mention, so...I came up with a redesign as follows:

I also have an even larger file size if interested and many smaller ones if anyone wants to reproduce and display one of your own hosting (send me FRmail and I'll tell you what file sizes I have available, free to use as long as it's not-for-profit).

Thanks so much, RonDog...next time something this BIG (as to FR event) is planned, if you/others have more lead time, let me know and I can do more graphics for you (as long as it's a cause I support, which I'm sure you understand) (so far all the FR causes have been those I've supported, so shouldn't be a concern for the most part as to future events, when/as I can participate/help out).

DFU on the scene | 8-29-05 | dfu

Under absolutely oppressive Southern California Inland Empire August heat, the good guys showed up in force to support the President and the troops.

There were a handful of FReepers there that I recognized including bittdrvr, Blurblogger, Joy Angela, Aloha Ronnie, and RonDog. Darn, come on, who am I forgetting?

There had to be perhaps 300 there on our side, and it was refreshing to outnumber the airheads on the other side...
