Never thought I'd say it, but the cops in this country are criminals.

I'll have to disagree. There are bad cops but how often have you seen stories of good ones? I think it's a problem with the MSM. They don't just print news.....they ONLY print bad news. As most conservatives know, there is little balance. More like none.

The section reads "Any member, officer or agent of the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or any sheriff, undersheriff, constable, certified animal control officer who has been properly authorized pursuant to section 4 of P.L.1983, c. 525 (C.4:19-15.16b) or police officer may:
I would take this to mean the person making the arrest must be either a member, orfficer or agent of the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or sheriff, etc. This man is not from NJSPCA nor is he a Sheriff, undersheriff, etc. It does not say he can be an officer of any state agency. I also checked the website of NJ Human Services. No where is investigating animal cruelty complaints listed as part of their purview.

I re-read the story and it still just isn't clear to me whether the arrest happened at night, or just the dog dying,

This is from the first sentence next to the dateline.

WOODBRIDGE — What began as a quick Sunday night drive...

It seems clear this was at night.

I understood the concept. It is a simple concept without foundation, fact or reason. I was hoping you would expound. If you do have something to back it up I would listen.

The downside of Cops. Some of them are just power hungry thugs.

This man needs to go to jail. He isn't a cop anymore and this was not right.

"I'm not sure what authority a Dept of Human Services cop has."

He's probably the cop that goes along with the social workers that pull kids out of homes to place in foster care.

Sounds like the township weeded this thug out 10 years ago. Problem is if no charges were filed against him back then, He takes his POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) certificate and keeps applying for every job where they give you a badge and a nifty uniform until he finds some agency dumb or desperate enough to hire him! Looks like this couple just won the NJ Lotto

There are hundreds of guys out there...like this. Former cops...fired for being out of control. And these guys won't just walk away. They have some kind of life goal to only be a cop. In this case, the guy is going to get some short jail time...I'll bet less than 60 days.

The meme, "leaving your dog in a car is animal abuse," seems to be spreading among both amateur and professional busybodies, as exemplified by this recent thread: Animal rescue activist arrested; Cruelty charges filed after dog left in car Dogs like to travel with their owners, and they are better off traveling with their owners than being left behind. Dog owners care about their dogs, and most are responsible about leaving the appropriate for conditions amount of windows open, or leaving the AC on. And in many cases there is no practical alternative. I hope the Ciardiellos take everything that "Officer" Sexton owns in the lawsuit, are able to take hefty chunks of the budgets of Woodbridge and the NJ Human Services Department.

The KG9 Kid diud not say all police officers are scum, just that some scum are drawn to police work.

The problem is that the decent police will be used as smokescreen by people wanting to defend the abuse of civilians by the scum, however outrageous.

I looked up Woodbridge Department of Health & Human Services and animal control is part of the department. The guy may have had authority but he seems to have jumped the gun. If the dog was fine and the woman was only in the store for a few minutes there simply isn't any abuse to be arrested for.

I think he just happened on a situation that gave him a chance to be a control freak with a badge.

The police are like muslims - They won't out the terrorists among themselves.

I wager one thousand dollars right here and now that he doesn't even get charged, much less arrested.

You would be turned down to proofread this article by most high school papers.

The trees used to make the material high school papers are printed on are more perceptive.

Also, why did the dog die? Did the dog overheat in the car because she was in there for two hours? What is the story? If everyone was standing around, why?
The answers were in the article.
