The fast pace leaves them wanting for more, but sadly, they seem to find solice in the big department stores, restaurants and what they call "parks". Parks, trees surrounded by asphalt. You know what? I think you're right. I will honestly admit that my disdain for city life has perhaps clouded my judgement along with my own personal experiences with people I know who live in the city. My observations have been that their lives seem to be focused more on money and prestige, rather than....well, the simpler joys in life.

I should not have painted all city dwellers with the same broad-brush generalizations. And I'm not lying. :)
