Nitpicky, I know. But stereotypes on height are one of the last areas into which PC has made any inroads, if any, and can go easily overlooked. And I'm bored.
i think the small is not about size but about irrelevance. Its like TE Lawrence calling arabs a small people even though arabs are quite tall.
I did not see that "small man" as a reference to his height. Is he short?
A small man in this context to me refers more to his total lack of character.
