Earle lends passion to Iraq war protest near Bush's ranch - Steve Earle sings for peace advocates and soldiers' relatives near Crawford
COUNTRY MUSIC CRAWFORD, Texas When Steve Earle got his invitation to perform at the Camp Casey protest outside President Bush's Crawford residence the singer-songwriter asked organizers to think twice about their choice.
"I think this is the beginning of a mainstream movement against the war in Iraq, so I wanted them to consider who I am and the kind of lightning rod I can be," said Mr. Earle, who has a history of activism against the death penalty and who caused a stir in 2002 with the song "John Walker's Blues," which he wrote about captured American Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. "I didn't want to be more trouble than I'm worth."

That's an interesting parallel with "Roger and Me". I hadn't thought of that before.
Seeing the photo of Mrs. Sheehan speaking with Michael Moore standing in the wings gives some insight into her handlers.
Looks like a liberal "Girly-Man" to me.
CHEVY -- The choice of anti-American heroin-soaked wartime traitors
Yeah, but based on his politics, it appears the damage has already been done!
He just married Alison Moorer about a week ago. If that is faggish, where do I sign up?
See my #47.
Heard on the news this morning that Joan Biaz was there yesterday !! The grave diggers have been busy bringing all these "progressives" back from the dead.
I actually know who Steve Earle is; now, whose Allison Moorer?
Oh, yes - and she is smokin' hot.
And, apparently, she isn't hung up on looks. In other words, she is a myth.
f**k Steve Earle. He is nothing more that a has-been, no talent screecher. Too bad the "H" didn't kill him.
gee, when I lived in Nashville, he got busted for buying crack on Dickerson road. A really nice place.
I have a CD of Earle's I bought almost ten years ago. To bad, I loved his music, but I can't support him.
Looks like a souless murderer to me.
That's the only song Steve Earl sung that I thought was worth listening to.
Of course, might have something to do with the fact my grandpa was a moonshiner and my Daddy ran shine in the 1950s. Really.
"The Iraq war is not Viet Nam in no way, shape or form, this time the anti-war protesters are going to eat crow. Mark my words."
During the Viet Nam war liberals used the universities as their way to network and rile up the student body. Conservatives had no rallying point. Things have changed considerably since the internet and talk radio came along. Conservatives now have their own means to reach the masses. We won't let the 70's happen to us again!!!
Cool. He can give everyone free heroin.
Steve Earl was playing on Austin's KLBJ-FM's morning show last week. At the end of the show, one of the DJ's ask if he was headed to Crawford, then laughingly called him a freedom-hater. He thought it was funny. NUFF SAID
9/11 was Pearl Harbor. They still don't get it.
