we don't NEED illegals.
I am just saying we can USE the debate as a tool to twist the proposed legislation to get desirable reform.
I am sorrymy question was not directed at you, it was an open question to any and all
This editorial uses the phrase "fix this country's broken immigration system". If you google variations of that, you'll find that said over and over by the OBL.
Then, it issues the same canard used recently by David Brooks and previously by many other hacks:
"More are slipping across the border every day, despite huge increases in money and manpower intended to stop them."
All those increases mean little if there's a huge jobs magnet in the interior, something which the Bush administration refuses to do anything about.
The editorial is just more BS.
They also say "create a guest-worker program that would let immigrants who register with the government and pass background checks temporarily fill jobs unclaimed by Americans".
Basically, American jobs will be auctioned off, eBay style.
Raise your hand if you think Americans would actually be given first crack at those jobs instead of loopholes being used to give them to the lowest-wage foreigners available.
And, of course, those "guest" workers will have children, and Teddy Kennedy et al will pass legislation allowing them to stay.
As in "Pat Buchanan" ? ? ?
Yes. Pat Buchanan was the first presidential candidate to suggest building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico in order to preserve our society. That previous picture of a wall is not actually his wall, but the idea, as coming from a national politician, is his.
Wow... didn't know that. Thanks....
