We don't have to agree with the way other people think, but it doesn't hurt to try to understand it. Or, alternatively, we can refuse to associate with people who don't believe what we believe and we can refuse to watch channels that show points of view that make us uncomfortable. I.e., we can stick our heads in the sand.

I must respectfully disagree with you, for I understand perfectly Al-Jazeera's mission. They and their ilk wish to exterminate us and our way of life.

Why legitimize their voice by giving them their own cable channel here in the U.S.? To me, that is insanity, because I remember a 'little thing' called 9/11 and them dancing in the streets.

This is as much a propaganda war as anything else. Julius Streicher, editor and publisher of Der Sturmer the Nazi state newspaper, was hanged at Nuremburg. Al Jazeera should be held to the same standard as Islam and Naziism are such similar ideologies.

We already know that the truth is not something that is important to al J, so why would what they say be reliable? Are they not more like Axis Annie and Tokyo Rose?

I don't know. I've never really listened to them, since I don't understand Arabic.

If they are totally unreliable, who are you afraid would believe them?

If that is the sort of thing they broadcast, it might help convince the liberals who think that terrorism would go away if we'd just leave those poor people alone.

Possibly the millions of Muslims who are already in this country?

Islam’s “Plan” To Take Over the USA
in 20 Years

As reported by Anis Shorrosh, author of “Islam Revealed”

as well as in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin
and WorldNetDaily.com on August 4, 2003.

 5. Take control of as much of Hollywood, the press, TV, radio and the Internet as possible by buying the related corporations or a controlling stock.

I think you're making the assumption that most liberals are rational.

In my experience, they are not. Why add fuel to the fire?

How do you know that the cable company would be paying Al Jazeera, rather than Al Jazeera paying the cable company?

Well, no. They are already watching on satellite, and they are watching the Arabic feed that you can't understand.

At least if this one is on the air, you'll know what some of them are listening to, and you'll be able to understand it too.

Great! The countless American Muslim converts in our prisons will be able to understand them now too.

Sounds like a win/win situation to me. /sarc

Maybe you should become familiar with these points of view:

This section of the website focuses on main inter-Arab developments such as the decline of pan-Arab nationalism, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, and will review elements of unity and disunity in the Arab world.

Oh, I see now! You're right! If we ban Al Jazeera, American Muslim converts in our prisons won't get any anti-American propaganda!

Great idea!

Thanks for convincing me!

Maybe we should ban the internet since it might enable people to access information about points of view we'd rather they not have?

You did not answer my questions and I did not say they were "totally unreliable". The problem is in finding the truth in the propaganda.

There have been articles posted here that are translations of al Jazeera. Maybe you could go back and find those and read what they say. That way you will be able to have an informed opinion that doesn't involve learning Arabic.

In other words, the information people are afraid al-Jazeera might present is already widely available and easily accessed via the internet.

In order for all Americans to see the evil of islam, Al jizz needs to be available. All of us need to see this filth so that when we have to attack Iran, they're obvious hatred for us will be apparent.

It seems to me that Al-Jazeera would, at best, appeal to a niche market. I can't see them becoming, for example, the next CNN. For that matter, the cable news channels have a very small market share compared to major networks and other cable channels.

However, if they can't attract at least some viewers, or if they generate too much controversy, they won't last long in an American market because no one will advertise on their station. If they are seen as unreliable or untruthful, they won't last long I think.

You don't need to learn Arabic...just watch this video:
Saudi TV Ch.1 - 8/8/2005 - 00:03:15................................>>>
Windows Media Player

There are VERY FEW sites that translate real and widely publicized Arabic TV; none that I know of translate Arabic radio. Most Americans are not familiar with MEMRITV.org
