As if an actual Masai woman, given the choice, would choose to wear those frumpy sandals rather than, say, a pair of Manolo Blahniks with pointy toes and 4" stiletto heels.

I don't think that I have EVER seen a picture of any Masai wearing shoes or sandals that look like that. The Maasai are excellent cattlemen. They'd probably prefer boots but mostly they go barefoot.
Anyway, I have a better pair of sandals than the Sheehan woman
and I only paid $35.00 for them at Academy.
