I have an idea: The people who live in Alaska and are going to be using the bridge can pay for it.
In the previous thread with this article months ago, someone ran that numbers on how much a population of 14,000 pays in taxes and found that the payments will cover the cost of the bridge.

It works out to 18k for every man woman and child. You also absolve them I suppose of their share of defense, welfare, etc etc etc. Hey it's only Federal pork so every pig needs to grab a tit.

Let's take that reasoning to the next step. The population of eastern Massachusetts is about 300 times this number (14,000). The cost of the big dig is about 80 times the cost of this project. So, this means that it's self-financing, even though it's four times as costly as the big dig per user.
And that's not counting the many, many people who don't live in eastern Massachusetts who will take I-93 through the city. Not many people are driving to Juneau by comparison.
Congratulations--you've just made the Big Dig look like the best federal investment since Seward bought Alaska. We can use more defenders like you in Masschusetts.
