But the biggest reason behind Cindy Sheehan's lightning effect on the country is that she has been saying -- with her actions, gestures and intonations, if not exactly in words -- what has been left deliberately unsaid in America until now:
That the war in Iraq is useless, and that all those Americans who died or were wounded there died and suffered in vain. That Iraq is not and never was a war that America needed to fight, but that it was an adventure on the part of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith and the rest. And that it still could end horribly. This is frankly unbearable to most Americans, even now.

Can I get in before the Zot?
CINDY SHEEHAN STIRS UP A LONG OVERDUE HATRED OF THE ANTI-WAR MOVEMENT
Crazy Cindy has been exposed and is now harming the libs (even more). I love it!!!
Our paper runs about 3-4 days behind on everything.
That's not United Press Syndicate, that's Unpalatable Puke Syndiacte.
More far left, anti-Amerrican drivel. It didn't work before the election...try as you might...and it isn't working now, irrespective how you repackage it with the likes of Cindy Sheehan.
Thank God Cindy's son and hundreds of thousands of others who have volunteered to be there fighting America's enemies and securing freedom for others don't feel they way you people do.
IN the 90s they said the Vietnam syndrome was overcome, but they were wrong. In the 90s, America fought virtually casualty-free wars. We never had to confront the vietnam syndrome. Also, the operations had to be lightning fast, get it done and get out, because it's hard to hold on for a long slog. Everyone has their own opinion. To me, 2004 was a choice between the bunglers and the traitors, and the traitors pulled 48%.
LOL!! What an interesting way of saying, "That's one ugly, screeching woman!". But she's got a "nice personality", right?!
In before the zot?
No Alert Larry? tsk
Cue lightning and Viking Kitty
"lightening effect"? Do you call 100-200 protestors in a country this large a lightening effect? Is this all that can be mustered?
THe only thing keeping this alive is the main stream press....the same press who in the early 1990s, FAILED to cover the LARGEST march on Washington's Mall at the time...the PRO-LIFE anti-Roe march. When asked why they didn't cover it, one reporter said he/she didn't "know any Pro-Life" people.
They continue to do the same today...except they no longer have a monopoly.
Need lightning and Viking Kitty stat.
t2 you speak gospel...I go every year...hardly no coverage and tremendous dumming down of the numbers if they cover it.
Why is it that all anti war liberals are feminists as well?
Don't shoot the messenger, the guy just posted the article....
Geyer is not a leftist, she's an isolationist. Here's the clue:
"Moreover, it is clear from their actions and rhetoric that there has been little concern for the American soldier in Iraq on the part of the president, the vice president and the secretary of defense, not to speak of the now-disappearing neocons who looked upon Iraq as not a necessity, but as some great experiment in transforming the Middle East."
Pat Buchanan in drag.
Anti-semitic paleo-loon who got caught using false quotes attributed to Arik Sharon.
"They continue to do the same today...except they no longer have a monopoly."
Lefty liberals never really had a grasp on reality.
Well, IMHO, it's still far-left drivel...no matter who is spouting it. The fact that they are resorting to it just punctuates the pathetic nature of their position on it.
I heard some talk show host (maybe Hugh Hewitt, but I'm not sure) say that the Vietnam era antiwar movement was fueled by the draft, and the movement lost steam right after the draft was ended. since there is no draft today, the movement won't take off as strong as back then. makes sense to me. at least I hope so.
