COLOGNE, Germany -- After nearly a week of being very low-key about their nationality, a group of young Catholics from the South Hills began flying the stars and stripes yesterday.

At times it's quite useful to use the word Nazi ~ particularly with Deutschlanders. It works with the Dutch too.

"If it was their group's request or suggestion - that is no problem.
I am just rebelling if this order was given by a liberal P.C. U.S. govt official just to appease our enemies. "
I'm guessing it was the group leaders and would share your disgust if the gov. had anything to do with it.

Stupid decision. Yes, there are a lot of hostile Germans - I spent a couple of months in Europe last year and got used to being verbally attacked by Germans, as soon as they learned I was an American - but pretending we don't exist just encourages them.
My wife is German and we go there several times a year. The men are effeminate and bed wetters, they shouldn't be attacking anybody.

My mom is also German and has said before that there is no way she could be married to a German man. I think it's a problem of the younger generation, though. My grandfather, in his 80's, still hunts regularly and is a good old fashioned cranky guy.

It's definitely the younger guys. Both of her grandfathers are in their nineties and I wouldn't jack with either one of them.

Any place where our flag and citizens would be met with hatred shouldn't be protected by American forces or influence.
PULL OUR BASES FROM EUROPE AND PULL US OUT OF NATO, THE UN, WTO AND ALL THESE OTHER FOREIGN ENTANGLEMENTS, NOW!

I'm beyond tired of Americans being told NOT to display the flag. The same warnings were made repeatedly both before and during the Olympics in Greece. Enough of that.
If it's true that it's too dangerous to be known as an American in this or that country, why would we honor them with our tourist dollars? Why would we want to be anyplace where we had to play downtrodden, victim-y roles? I have no need to shove my Americanism in anyone's face, but it's for darn sure I'm not interested in vacationing as a closet case either.
