To: Slings and Arrows

I have had occasion to handle squirrels. For something that is smaller than my forearm, they are insanely strong. They're also not soft, like they look. Their fur is very coarse to the touch.

Well I reckon most of us have at one time or another, but we don't talk about it much. And they never call or write.

I picked up a squirrel that happened to be standing on my foot, and I was wearing leather gloves because I know they have teeth, but that thing started squirming four different directions at once. I finally became concerned that I would injure the poor thing before he gave up, so I let him go. They are strong, surprisingly so. He ran off about eight feet and then started barking at me. But, he never stood on my foot again.
