Frist backs 'intelligent design' teaching

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Echoing similar comments from President Bush, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said "intelligent design" should be taught in public schools alongside evolution.

Frist, R-Tenn., spoke to a Rotary Club meeting Friday and told reporters afterward that students need to be exposed to different ideas, including intelligent design.

"I think today a pluralistic society should have access to a broad range of fact, of science, including faith," Frist said.

Frist, a doctor who graduated from Harvard Medical School, said exposing children to both evolution and intelligent design "doesn't force any particular theory on anyone. I think in a pluralistic society that is the fairest way to go about education and training people for the future."

The theory of intelligent design says life on earth is too complex to have developed through evolution, implying that a higher power must have had a hand in creation. Nearly all scientists dismiss it as a scientific theory, and critics say it's nothing more than religion masquerading as science.

Bush recently told a group of Texas reporters that intelligent design and evolution should both be taught in schools "so people can understand what the debate is about."

That comment sparked criticism from opponents, including Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean, who called Bush "anti-science."

Frist, who is considering a presidential campaign in 2008, recently angered some conservatives by bucking Bush policy on embryonic stem cell research, voicing his support for expanded research on the subject.

Frist said his decision to endorse stem cell research was "a matter of science," but he said there was no conflict between his position on stem cell research and his position on intelligent design.

"To me, I see no disconnect between that and stem cell research," Frist said. "I base my beliefs on stem cell research both on science and my faith.

Yeah, let's pass a bill through Congress to override the Second Law! PH, pass this one around. You couldn't make it up.

This is your brain on evolution.  When something isn't said, just make it up.  When it is debunked as a myth, pretend that the proof that it was a myth never happened.

From post 290begin lobbying for a change in the understanding of the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

DEMAND that the scientific community CHANGE its understanding of this bedrock law to accommodate evolution..

I don't recall seeing anything in that post about lobbying Congress to pass some stupid law.

Post 292 and 296 clarify this...

From post 296No need to pass any stupid law, just begin lobbying scientists that according to the EVOLUTIONISTS, they MUST change the Second Law of Thermodynamics because the evolutionists have decreed that it is so.

If the Second Law stands in tact, and if the science community rejects this, the debates around the absurdity of this whole proposition will cause evolution to collapse as a science fraud!

But then again, what are truth and facts to evolutionists?  Classic bait and switch...  Now THAT is something Congress does have laws against (tongue in cheek here :-)  These types of bait and switch tactics do not speak well to the integrity of evolutionists.  But then again, integrity, ethics, morals, etc., are all silly and artificial constructs that don't fit evolution.  Kind of like Islam being a religion of peace.  Tell any lie necessary to mislead the other side.  I'll take back calling this all a lie of the evo / secular fundamentalists will take back that there was ever any mention that Congress was supposed to pass some law.

The whole idea is to cram this ridiculous nonsense back down the scientific community's collective throats and demand that they adjust their definition of the Second Law of Thermodynamics to accommodate evolutionists.  The required adjustment to the Second Law would undermine electrical engineering, physics, higher math, and a whole host of other scientific professions.  As a result the infighting would cause evolution to collapse once and for all as the complete science fraud that it is!

If the Second Law stands in tact,...

The second law can be discreet.

New and Improved Second Law of Thermodynamics according to evolutionists:

The Second Law of Thermodynamics is now discrete, it no longer applies to everything, check with your nearest evolutionist to see what has been excluded or excused this week...

We've never needed to devote any effort to that. It would be like the old Aztecs praying every night that the sun will return the next day. No worries. It will.

Scary when they go off their meds, isn't it? Big fonts, bold incoherent assertions, delusions of grandeur. It's all there.

Continuously or intermittently?

CLASSIC Political and RELIGIOUS Propaganda tactic.

When you can't win or address the merits, attacks the messenger and avoid the message.

Evolutionists are the most zealous, fanatical, secular religious fundamentalists this country has ever seen.

By the way, I'd classify your personal attack as nothing but HTML envy.  It might be called something else, but the underlying assumption would be that there is something else to call it :-)

I'm still waiting for that REWRITE of the Second Law of Thermodynamics by the evolution crowd to accommodate their sacred religious beliefs.  Is that coherent enough for you?

Please rewrite the Second Law of Thermodynamics to allow for the belief in evolution.

Now, other than the words "Thermodynamics," and "evolution," everything else in that last paragraph is written at or below the 5th grade reading level.  Does that help with the coherence?  It's getting difficult to get it any lower than the fifth grade reading level...

Where are all the evolution fundies and "scientists" on this?  Come on now, evolution is a supposedly scientific endeavor, I just need a little help here to convince me.

Here is my paraphrased version of the Second Law, please modify it with your proposed changes so that we can all understand how evolution FITS within this law.  Or please explain how evolution is not subject to this law.  I'm fine with either option, or you tell me?  How does the Second Law apply to evolution?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Second Law of Thermodynamics (paraphrased)

Without external inputs of energy, any system, on its own, moves from order to disorder.  Without external inputs of energy, systems eventually become totally random.  Even in a system that has external energy inputs, the energy can not be random to create order, but must be directed in a specialized way to create order rather than disorder.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A snowflake, like ice, give up heat energy to become "organized" but they are not "ordered" because without external inputs, no two are alike.  Further, when either of them regain heat energy as inputs, in a "generalized" or random manner, rather than a directed manner, both ice and snowflake become nothing but totally random puddles of water.  And as greater levels of "generalized" or random energy are applied to the water, vapor becomes even more disordered and "dispersed" becoming totally random.

On the other hand, an intelligent designer can come along and with specialized input to just the right places, in the right way, and at the right time, and create beautiful ice sculptures from slabs of ice.

Beautiful women and the male attraction to them are proof of an intelligent designer.  The act of sex to procreate is proof of an intelligent designer.  How did species split off into male and female, adapt to different roles, and then become dependent on each other for the survival of their species?

The more I actually THINK about evolution, rather than just accepting its rote fundamentalist dogma, the more absurd it becomes.  The clearer and clearer it is that evolution is nothing but a religious cult.

Looks like a pretty scientific response to me. But then again, to evolution, anything is acceptable but the challenge of the religious orthodoxy of evolution.

"The Pharaoh called that judgment on his own people, not that Herrod had not already done the same thing in an attempt to kill Jesus."

Except that God himself forced Pharaoh to act that way by "hardening his heart." And of course even if Pharaoh had acted that way on his own, how would that justify such behavior on God's part? Did we go and kill all the first born in Iraq because Saddam was a bastard? That would have (rightfully) been considered genocide.

==============================

The most fascinating this about the cult of evolution is that it is guilty of some of the most outrageous intellectual dishonesty ever seen.  Not only does it refuse to address the gaps in its metaphysical religion of zealous secular fundamentalism, it ridicules science by insisting that it is above science and not subject to its laws or rules.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

When a valid criticism of Darwinism is first proposed, it is dismissed without an adequate response, either on some technicality or with some irrelevancy or by simply being ignored. As time passes, people forget that Darwinists never adequately met the criticism. But Darwinism is still ruling the roost. Since the criticism failed to dislodge Darwinism, the criticism itself must have been discredited or refuted somewhere. Thereafter the criticism becomes known as "that discredited criticism that was refuted a long time ago." And, after that, even to raise the criticism betrays an outdated conception of evolutionary theory. In this way, the criticism, though entirely valid, simply vanishes into oblivion.     Uncommon Dissent  (2004)  pp. xxv-xxvi

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Evolution is a cult, fanatical, zealous, secular fundamentalism in the extreme.  It masquerades as science but insists that it is not subject to the rules and rigors of the discipline of science.

Evolution, the opiate for the atheists.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Once again, to the evolutionists out there, define how evolution fits within the Second Law of Thermodynamics, how the Second Law must be modified, or what the resolution to the Second Law is or admit that evolution is a SCIENCE FRAUD!

The challenge still stands, and as of yet, the evolutionists avoid the death of their religion by pretending that they do not have to answer to science.

Address the Second Law of Thermodynamics or simply admit that evolution is a science fraud...

It's not any more complicated than that...

P.S.  I liked your pretty colors.  Is that another facet of evolution?  Which colors would natural selection choose as the superior ones?  ;-)
