From the CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/dengue/
Distribution of Aedes aegypti (red shaded areas) in the Americas in 1970, at the end of the mosquito eradication program, and in 1997.

Thanks for the ping Happy. Another thing to worry about, my daughter lives in Harlingen near the border!

One more disease that they are bringing across when they come illegally. Add it to the list of TB(the extremely virulent form)aids and several other illnesses that they continue to bring across and I am not just talking Mexicans, I am talking about ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS, most of whom come across our southern border but some across our northern border also.

If the infected were White people only,
I suspect that this piece would have said so. But since it's being brought
over the border (Likely into 1-bed homes with 20 people) by Mexican illegals,
it seems ominous who is causing this problem.
And to even mention race, would be tantamount too spewing Republican racism. /s
Can't have that happen!

More fear and scare tactics from the anti-Bush crowd.
I didn't see anything at all about "illegals" in the article.
So should I add "anti-Cancun vacationers" to the list of things that the Antis are anti? It must be miserable being against everything.

I'm concerned that it's just a matter of time before we see small pox.

Time for troops locked and loaded on the border.

Deadly diseases don't stop at the Rio GrandeThe silence from the oval office is deafening. Big money contributors and business interests trump border security and the health of America.

An outbreak of dengue fever in Mexico has health officials here in Texas keeping a watchful eye across the border.
----
Yes, just what we need to again prove the net result of wide-open borders -- an epidemic of dengue from below the border. I hope the people of this country are getting a real snout-full of Washington and what their arrogance, lack of responsibility and damaging politics executed with impunity, is costing the U.S. citizen in so many ways...
