Good article.

In terms of opinion in India, how mainstream is this piece?

I'm curious because, by Western standards, this article is very "un-P.C."

T. V. R. SHENOY is a very well known freelancer and Indian Express has a huge circulation (probably second only to the Times of India as far as English daylies are concerned).

"un-P.C." articles in the Indian media arnt rare.

In fact this article also appeared in the paper edition of the Indian Express. Thats how I noticed.

This article is hardly " un-pc" by Indian standards if you happen to read local daylies like "Samna" that comes in Marathi(the local language of Mumbai).

The Indian Express is a somewhat anti-Muslim (not really, but certainly feels like it when you read the dhimmitude in other Indian dailies) popular newspaper. It probably ranks within the top 50 newspapers world-over, in terms of readership. It has a large Indian readership.
