Porous border frustrates states
The Dallas Morning News ^ | August 18, 2005 | MICHELLE MITTELSTADT and DAVID McLEMORE

Frustration is rising along the Southwest border.

Angered by unending waves of illegal immigration, some Americans have taken matters into their own hands by forming "Minuteman" patrols that they plan to expand from Arizona to Texas this fall.

A Houston congressman is pushing for creation of militias of armed volunteers to augment Border Patrol forces. Gov. Rick Perry is mulling a border neighborhood watch-style program.

And in recent days, the governors of Arizona and New Mexico – fed up with the failure of the federal government to control the border – have declared state emergencies in counties struggling with rising immigrant smuggling and violence.

"It's a scream for help from Congress," said Frank Sharry, head of the National Immigration Forum, an immigrant advocacy group lobbying for an immigration overhaul. "They are basically pounding the table and saying, 'Do something.' "

While Washington policy-makers are definitely attuned to the growing public anxiety over border security and illegal immigration, they're far from achieving consensus on the proper remedy.

Not only is our current POTUS awol on this issue, he's actually trying to encourage them to come here.

When are we going to see conservative Republicans in the US again?

I think we are going to be seeing a whole lot more of that in the near future. Politicians will be taking positions that are in direct opposition to everything they've ever voted for.

We support defending the Constitution, and as it calls for, defending our states from invasion.

Don't you?

U.S. Constitution Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.

Invasion of British rock; invasion of fire ants; invasion of Italian shoes; invasion of killer bees; invasion of bottled water; invasion of migrant laborers.....

The Constitution uses "invasion" to mean invasion by foreign armies, not Russian caviar or anything else.

Immigration itself was considered a State function at the time that Amendment was adopted. Not until later did an Activist Supreme Court rule the the Federal government had immigration authority.

You don't support the Constituition as "originally intended", you support your own private distortion of the Constitution. It was thinking like yours that resulted in Roe v. Wade.

By the way, which third party are you supporting now, The Constitution Party?

Oh really? Can you prove that statement?

When Pancho Villa and a few hundred armed Mexicans "invaded" New Mexico for a weekend, we responded by sending General Pershing on a deep punitive mission into Mexico.

Was Pancho Villa's weekend raid by a couple hundred men on horses more dangerous than 12-20 MILLION unvetted unchecked criminal aliens invading America?

What happens when there is a deep economic recession or depression, and these 12-20 MILLION criminal invaders refuse to go home, and demand to be fed and housed?

Bloody civil war, armed insurrection, is what is going to happen then.

Actually, I don't know why I bother engaging a false flag freeper, who has the covert goal of destroying American sovereignty.

BTW, I saw your pals from the Open Borders Lobby last week. These were the demonstrators who tried to stop the Carlsbad illegal immigration forum from taking place last week.

They represent the true face of the Open Borders Lobby.

This guy equates Old Glory with a Nazi Swastika.

"Oh really? Can you prove that statement? "

The only time I know of that someone filed a suit under that theory it was thrown out of court. But if you're convinced that the Constitution means what you think it means why don't you file a suit?

.

"When Pancho Villa and a few hundred armed Mexicans "invaded" New Mexico for a weekend, we responded by sending General Pershing on a deep punitive mission into Mexico. "

Pancho Villa was not a gardener. That was a military force. That's why we went into Mexico. Do you propose that we send the American Army deep into Mexico to kill potential babysitters?

.

"What happens when there is a deep economic recession or depression"

That's exactly what would result if we lost 13 million productive laborers. We are already at full employment. By definition we cannot expand without more employees. American companies are already being forced to relocate overseas or outsource because there simply aren't enough employees at any price. Your California crops are dying in the fields today, so we will be eating imported food tomorrow.

.

"Bloody civil war, armed insurrection"

Now where have I heard that before?

Sure would like to know where you get your "facts"

Because all I see here in California is hospitals closing, schools over crowded with illegals etc etc etc...

The California economy is booming and the crime rate is at a thirty year low.

Those overcrowded schools are educating the future workforce of California that will fuel the California economy in the future. They are replacing a few of the ones who were aborted

Problems caused by California's socialist laws aren't President Bush's fault, they are the fault of California conservatives who have taken an "all or nothing" position the last two decades and ended up with nothing.

That's the first definition of invasion in Websters.

How many criminal invaders would YOU consider an invasion? Thirty million? Forty million? Fifty million?

Yeah, imported goods compare to an endless stream of illegal aliens. You're not that dense.

Again, conservatives and republicans are two different things.

I wouldn't mind at all leaving it to the states. I'm sure the borders would be secure if we did that.

Why is it always the biggest open borders loons who are the first to scream "immigration is a federal issue" when police in New Hampshire arrest and charge illegal immigrants with trespass?
