"I wonder if these people consider for a second that if we just up and pull out that every Iraqi who has worked with us for democracy will likely be slaughtered."

That's exactly what they want. Don't think for a moment that these moonbats actually care about life. They want to create another Vietnam, and the mass slaughter that occurred after we pulled out just so they can point and say "see what evil war mongers caused". They don't care how many millions the tyrant Saddam killed, and was killing every day, nor his dream of someday killing every last Jew, and creating a terrorist network to reach out and touch the West, or his designs to be master of the mid-east.

I'm sure you are right about the behind the scenes people and the people using this as an excuse to attack America. But support for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq is fluid and sensitive to press reports and momentum in public sentiment. If sentiment is fluid it should be fluid in both directions. Those who are not hardcore could be influenced.

To the extent that people are tricked into supporting a premature Iraq withdrawal we should be able to influence them by making sure they understand what would happen if we just left. The good people among them will care that the Iraqis who believe in us and have helped us would be slaughtered. The story needs to be personalized so the good but uninformed people can hear both sides.

This is Adnan - he is 14 and attends a school rebuilt by U.S. troops. His Father is a security guard and his mothers helps register women voters. They are targets of the extremists but live in a protected area. If the U.S pulls out they are exactly the kind of family most likely to be killed in retaliation.
I know that's a bad first effort but if we wait for the main stream media to make this point we will likely wait forever.

BTW, I know we shouldn't even have to make this argument at all because the self interest of our Republic should be enough but since we are combating emotional appeals this approach seems the way to go, IMO.
