I remember he was a spokesman for "Jordan is Palestine" during that period, and that statement was made by an Israeli spokesman I thought it was Sharon, but it could have been Arens, Shamir etc.
That might even have been earlier. For others reading this, meant in the context of let Arafat kill King Hussein and have a state in Jordan. The Brits original idea back in 1922. One bullet away makes sense in that context. Of course the 80s for Sharon were largely post Sabra/Shatilla, and trade minister duties.
