Promising futures in what?

When I was a kid, I saw a young woman lying in the gutter outside of the Port Authority in New York City having a seizure. A police officer stood over her watching her but did nothing to help. The young woman looked fairly middle class and normal otherwise. My aunt seemed disinterested, as did most of the other people walking by. She told me the woman was ODing as if she'd seen it all before.

That was the strongest anti-drug message I ever got as a child. I didn't ever want to be the person lying in the gutter having a seizure while the rest of New York City walked by and didn't care.

Police believe a bad batch of heroin may have contributed to the deaths of Mellie Carballo and Maria Pesantez, both 18 and with promising futures.

No. Clearly these two did not have "promising futures". Why do reporters write things like this?

Isn't it funny that whenever a druggie overdoses, that the MSM always has to insert that these people had "promising futures." Now who's going to discover the cure for AIDS?

"Police believe a bad batch of heroin may have contributed to the deaths of Mellie Carballo and Maria Pesantez, both 18 and with promising futures"

Isn't that an oxyMORON, two individuals were obviously hooked on coke and had herion needle tracks on their arms YET THE STUPID journalist states they had "promising futures" when CLEARLY they didn't and WON'T due to WRECKreational drug abuse that they CHOSE to die from! Yes (sarc) it was the bad terrible drugs that jumped off the table into those stupid girls veins and up heir nose. We should confine needles to life in prison!

Dopers, junkies and snorters HAVE NO RIGHT to complain and demand high industry standards on meat, milk and produce production and restaurant sanitation when they have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA nor do they care what the ingredients are in the GARBAGE they willingly choose to consume to get high off of.

Druggies ARE proof that Darwin was right!

Screams ............ D U H !

The dose a habitual heroin user routine takes, will kill a first time user.

The sole purpose of heroin and speed is to get ugly guys laid by beautiful girls.

The side effects to that effect are tragic.

The bad heroin might have killed the two coeds. Using it certainly did.

Thank you for posting this article. Hopefully some one will read and learn. There is no such thing as good heroin, just varieties of bad heroin.

This is a good example of why heroin should be legal. During prohibition people were going blind and being poisoned by poorly made alcohol.

Actually an even better example is when heroin itself was legal in America, in the 1800's. Companies have an interest in making sure their product is properly made at non lethal mixtures.
