I remember that Star Trek episode. I saw it again not long after 9/11; I think the writers would have had quite a different script if this episode were produced today. As I recall, the terrorist who kidnapped Crusher was handsome and idealistic and presented as a sympathetic character. If it had been one of our islamic terrorists, when Capt. Picard announced "on-screen", he would have been treated to the spectacle of Crusher's head being sawed off and kicked around like a soccer ball. Then again, the show did have a very liberal slant.

14 towns evacuated and trashed by the goobermint against the vote of the people and one guy goes balistic. Imagine the same scenario in the US.

Thousands dead...

Americans don't screw around.

Well said, my brother. May God, the most high avenge this crime against His land and people. Woe to those who betray Israel and her people.

I remember that. Although the show was liberal, it did have a few nuggets of wisdom from time to time. I wonder what Captain Picard would have done if he saw a "redshirt's" (can't kill of Crusher, she is a main character B-)) head being sawed off, I think even he would have phasered them but I would rather see Captain Kirk do the job. I'm still disgusted over what is happening in Gaza.

Palis will demand Jerusalem and the Temple is what I hear.

Well, from what I gather they already control most of Bethlehem and ALL of the Temple Mount so...
It is heartrending to know that there are hundreds of Israelis that would love to worship or just stand on the temple mount but they cannot. Their worship at the Wall is regulated by the Palestinians who terminate the entry for the Israelites at the drop of the hat and who also BTW do not protect them from their rock throwing brethren.

I think it might have some credibility

It has a lot of credibility. Like I said, the arabs play the pals for chumps and feed the violence. This won't end without a military solution by Israel. I think we'll see that happen soon.

Israel has very little room to maneuver

They'll have more room after they move the West Bank Pals to Gaza.

Sharon cannot be sure of remaining in office long enough to carry out his strategy (or remaining alive for that matter, he is 79).

That's why he needs to act now.
I don't think Sharon is going to listen to any screechers, foreign or domestic.

the palesite demands for a full pullout from the west bank beginning on 4 September

It just may be the Pals who move...to Gaza.

against the vote of the people? the Knesset voted FOR it, and EVERY poll states the majority of israelis are FOR the pullout. 9,200 people cannot dictate Israel's security concerns and protocal.

Excuse me, but the People voted in a landslide to put Sharon in power on a platform that he would never give land away. The opposition party's platform was what is being done now. For the first time in years and years the Likud party (conservative) party was put in power by a large margin. That is the ONLY vote that was taken by the people.

Now leftist magazines post polls that state that strangely enough, from the people they know, the people have suddenly decided to vote leftist. If that is a valid vote, Kerry would have been president Long before the actual election was held.

And the Kenneset did not vote, the cabinet did. The first vote, Sharon lost, so he fired those who voted against him and put leftists from the other party in the cabinet. Then he held another vote and lost again. So he fired more conservatives and replaced them with leftists. Strangely enough after three votes, He won his point. THEN he announced he had a mandate from the Kenneset and there was no need to put the vote before the public.

Also at that point, and at present, there are more memebers of the opposition party, the one voted out of office by the people, in cabinet positions than the people from the leading party that were voted in by the people.

It is called a bloodless coup. It is a socialist takeover of the government against the vote and the will of the people.

You want another poll? The Rabbi's held an anti-disengagement prayer meeting in downtown Jerusalem, and over 200,000 people showed up. It shut the town down as the streets were wall to wall people. The Labor party (liberals) decided to hold a "rally to end all rallys" party in Tel Aviv to show that the people massivly supported the disengagement, after all, all the polls showed they were the majority. Know how many showed up?

5,000.

Pitifull. Every rally against disengagement has hundreds of thousands show up, and the Liberals do not have rallys anymore because of the embarassing turnout. They just stick to their "scientific" polls.

Other polls indicate differently. For example, as the people are not allowed to vote, they decided to show their vote on their own. A home grown voting systems sprung up all over Israel. If you vote for disengagement, you tie a blue ribbon on your car, if you vote against it, you tie a orange ribbon.

The vote is 5 to 1 against disengagement. And that is with the orange ribbions being torn off of my car almost every day. It seems hanging chads are matched in this country by liberals with sissors.

9000 people are not dictating Israel's security concerns, Sharon, Perez and a handful of Socialist Masters are.

Your polls are pure propaganda, and you bought them hook, line and sinker. Liberals live in fairy land.

Much as I believe in honoring agreements, even bad ones like Oslo (if they continue homicide bombings then its time to go to the mattresses), this guy should be given a medal. The Israeli government encouraged them to all settle in Gaza to begin with (and interestingly enough, it was a Labor government, not a Likud government that did that), so I won't lose sleep if the Israelis have to march back in and clean out the place of the terrorists, their fifth column, etc...

These innocent people are being deprived of their homes. Last time I recall, that was causus belli to rise up against the authorities, as well as to get rid of the Palis. Maybe some FReepers need to go over there with some guns (or get some there shouldn't be too hard and stand with these settlers against both the Palis and the weak-kneed Sharon government.

Sell-outs, in the end, are seldom worth the price you ultimately pay. Israel is losing much more than a few thousand properties in these lands. And more citizens will be hurt when the final tally comes than those being evicted from the homes they built with their own hands. The spectacle of Jew being set against Jew, brother against brother, costs a helluva lot more to the national soul than the pittance of "compensation" the government is throwing these people. Selling out your brother for a government check comes at a cost beyond reckoning.

It wouldn't necessarily require an armed rebellion, either. Just effective civil/military disobedience. How far would this have gotten if the Israeli military/security forces decided they would not betray their brothers by throwing them out of their homes?

Remember the Iranian revolution? As long as the military/police were backing the Shah, he could remain. As soon as they turned against him, he was finished. Refusal to follow orders in this "evacuation" would have likely forced a no-confidence vote in the Knesset, and Sharon would have been finished.

No, but that is there homes. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. The polls there are as badly skewed as ours, think of how they poll here with blue counties in red states and say that a state is going Dem...

that being said, none of this would have happened under Ehud Barak, and much the probs they have are because of Sharon..
