WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 - State Department analysts warned the Clinton administration in July 1996 that Osama bin Laden's move to Afghanistan would give him an even more dangerous haven as he sought to expand radical Islam "well beyond the Middle East," but the government chose not to deter the move, newly declassified documents show.

I may be confusing 2 stories, but will keep searching.
I can "imagine" 2 cokes for a nickle - but it's hard for me to imagine that Madaline was on top that intelligence. She makes Homer Simpson look like a Yale graduate.
And the DUmmies have the nerve to call Pres. Bush a liar....
Good job by Judicial Watch....I bet the Times hated to publish this....but knew they really had no choice....is the Blogosphere now driving the MSM?
This would indicate that they now realize they cannot hold back publication of documents that harm their agenda!
CNN: White House April 2000 Terrorism report DOES NOT EVEN MENTION Al Quaeda.

Doesn't look like that was ever posted here.
Looks like I am behind the curve on this one,....see #12 also!
If they have been sitting on this for awhile then it would certainly seem to indicate that they are going to flood us with old stuff to cloud the many revelations coming out of Able Danger and pieces like The Omission Commission

Amazing how in the 90's, many articles were written about the growing relationship between OBL and Saddam. Then we go to war in Iraq and there's no relationship.
The left just doesn't get that we can look this stuff up. LOL

Your analysis seems unflawed. Somewhere between loyalty to liberalism/protecting Clintoon and fear of loss of readership, lays the desire to report news. Perhaps they slipped yet again.

MOSCOW, Russia -- Russia says it will not support any U.S. military action against Iraq because it would only "complicate" attempts to resolve problems in the Middle East.
"Any decision to use force against Iraq would not only complicate an Iraqi settlement but also undermine the situation in the Gulf and the Middle East," Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said after talks with Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri on Monday.
However, Ivanov said Russia's traditional support for Iraq would end if the nation did not halt its programme to develop weapons of mass destruction -- chemical and biological.
Heck, LtCol North warned the WORLD about OBL on national television in front of Congress years before that...
And we need to know when judicial Watch turned over the documents to the NY Times, might have been several months ago....or longer.
I will recall, when the news broke regarding EIGHT BALL, everyone jumped on it like flys land on a POS. Of course since EIGHT BALL was living proof that our CIA was tricked by a drunken chemist's claims Iraq had biochem weapons, they all reported every nuince as it was made available. Now that reams of info is becoming available about the wall, they all stare in horror and are mostly paralized. How long should we wait, who first will take the plunge that shows the Slick One and his croonies should be lined up against the wall and shot.
