Exactly! It seems that a large portion of the crew over at NR has gone bonkers lately. They've also seem to have monthly hissy fits over Iraq.
He likely had lots of contacts with all sorts of diplomatic representatives in Bagdad at the appropriate times.
I disagree. That's a decidedly pessimistic view considering how early we are in this story.
The obvious money trail says the wall, the US attorneys, Richardson's Energy Department, etc. etc. staked out a gold mine of a playing field for the Chinese. Ben Ladin and The Base where just a opportunistic infection that took advantage of the AIDS Clinton caught for us from the Chinese.
Today they started defending themselves against their critics (see KLo's post in the corner). The argument seems to be that they don't all have to agree all the time and that such diversity is what makes the corner great. The problem is, they often argue like a bunch of kids (or Freepers, on some occasions) and it makes a onetime touchstone of conservative thought look more and more irrelevant.
A thoughtful article. Thanks for posting it. I recommend people stand back and wait for more information. Without all of the facts, it wouldn't be prudent to start pointing fingers.
And if it true, it seems that the 9/11 commission was also an act of treason by some members!
There are pessimists, optimists and realists. I suspect Shaffer has been around the business long enough to be a realist.

yeah, the "military" blocked meetings to convey information that the military itself un-earthed. no mention of the Justice department's laws.
but no matter, you can't expect more from the "all the news that fits, we print" crowd at the NYT. talk radio better be all over this story tomorrow, Savage has scooped them all.
As I suspected...they are going to try and pin this on the military..
After Podhoretz put the slam on the ADanger business I stated that he owed Weldon an apolgy. I still feel that way.
I just listened to LTC Shaffer interiewed by Michael Savage, and I believe him.
They publish these comments. They want higher readership. Then they complain when they receive some backlash. Either ignore the commentary or take the critisism, examine if it has a point, and evaluate how to proceed. Giving a tutorial on how their side of the block works strikes of elitism.
The fact they (many of them not all) are rushing to condemn and even go so far as to say we should apologize to the 9-11 Commission! is a display of willful ignorance or cowardice or bias. Whatever it is, I have no use for it.
On another note I will say Edward Whelan has been doing some outstanding work on the bench memos side.
