Larry Northern of Waco
Self | 08/16/2005 | Tex 52

Posted on 08/16/2005 5:32:55 PM PDT by Tex52

Just wanted to let Freepers know that Larry Northern, the man that knocked down the crosses outside the Bush ranch, is a Purple Heart winner from Vietnam. He was wounded by shrapnel that hit his juglar vein. I think maybe he had enough of Shean. She brings back the worst of how our soldiers were treated after Vietnam.

What is the source of the data saying this person is a Purple Heart winner?

Awww, you are very kind. I needed that. I cannot understand for the life of me how this woman can use her son's death, and every other soldier who has died, in such a.......oh, I just can't even find the words right now. Is that part of menopause too? har har

I'll be glad when I'm done with it too. I'm a stubborn kind of gal. I refuse to take the suggested medications. I am determined to go through this as God intended. As graceful as a bull in a china shop. LOL (just kidding...)

Will you cry if I say "Yes", and it never gets better? ;)

I refuse to take the suggested medications.

I HAD to take PremPro. The "nicest" thing that happened was Hubby and I spent 3 hours on a car trip and I never spoke to him once. Trust me, he was grateful. I went to the doctor. LOL

You crack me up! You've got me laughing out loud. Oh, I don't have it so bad. At least not as bad as some women I've heard about. I nurture my humorous side, much to the delight of my husband. I haven't gotten real "mean" yet. That would shock the heck out of him if I did. The only time we haven't been able to laugh our way through a situation was when our son was sent to Iraq at the start of the war. That was no laughing matter. Menopause ain't nothing to complain about after THAT walk.

Positive attitude....it's all about the P. And I gotta go....ppppp ROFL

A crime is a crime is a crime.

What specific crime did he actually commit? I'm certain charges will eventually be dropped once the circus leaves town.

If you burn a flag that is your OWN flag, that is one thing (although I cringe and am angered by anyone burning our flag). This man did not drive down his own "cross", he drove down the crosses that belonged to others. Surely you do not believe that someone has the right to burn someone else's flag and call that free speech.

****

I'm just trying to figure out the law here, not to get into a p*ssing contest. If the crosses are on public property but belong to someone else, how can that be a crime? If I put up an expensive poster up on a telephone pole and someone takes it down, can I get them charged with a crime? Can someone explain this so it makes sense to me?

Liberals hate the crosses on public property anyway. He did them a favor and the ACLU won't have to sue to have them removed. He was just enforcing that good ol' seperation of church and state. Those liberal vampires usually shreik and scream at the site of a cross.

I understand your point. However, I do believe I'd be angry if someone vandalized a cross on "public property" as well. There are many in's and out's to this conversation, and so many valid points can be made on one side or the other. In this particular situation, as I've already said, I just don't think this act (other than just "feeling good") was the right thing to do, given the circumstances.

I'm not into p**sng matches either. Not only are they all wet, they are totally unproductive. LOL

Texas only allows state-funded uniform roadside memorials that can be applied for by contacting the departments of Transportation

These crosses were not state funded and Im sure they (Cindys little group) didnt contact the department of Transportation!

TxDOT set up a few rules that require any memorial to be:

2. placed close to the far edge of a road’s right-of-way outside the 30-foot “mow zone,”

HMMMM...were these signs 30 foot off the road as required by law?

TEXAS CODE

SUBCHAPTER B. SIGNS[0] ON STATE HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY

§ 392.031. DEFINITIONS. In this subchapter:
(1) "Sign[0]" means an outdoor sign[0], display, light,
device, figure, painting, drawing, message, plaque, poster, or
other thing designed, intended, or used to advertise or inform.
(2) "State highway right-of-way" means the
right-of-way of a highway designated as part of the state highway
system.

Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995.

§ 392.032. OFFENSE. (a) A person may not place or
maintain a sign[0] on a state highway right-of-way unless authorized
by state law.
(b) A person commits an offense if the person violates this
section.
(c) An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor.

These crosses are on the state highway right-of-way. And in violation of law! If the guy who ran over them is going to be charged with a misdemeanor.. than so should Cindys little group!

I agree. Given this information, this woman and her cohorts should face the consequences for their illegal posting of these crosses.
