Poll: Latinos divided on driver's license restrictions

A majority of Latinos born in the United States don't think illegal Hispanic immigrants should be given drivers' licenses, according to a new poll.

Most foreign-born Latinos disagree, according to the polling for the Pew Hispanic Center.

Six in 10 Latinos born in this country approve of measures to prohibit illegal immigrants from getting drivers' licenses, while two-thirds born in another country disapprove of such measures.

"Three-fourths in a Time poll of 503 Hispanic adults said people in the United States illegally are taking jobs that U.S. citizens don't want. The Time poll was taken from July 28 to August 3."

Looks like a small sample and there is no independent verification of whether or not they were or were not born in the US and of those who were not born in the US, whethere they were here legally or illegally.

I think it's a pretty worthless poll, except that even with the small sample and unknown amount of bias in the poll, a lot of the Latinos themselves don't think illgalls should be given drivers licenses.

The real news, at least to politicians, is that most Native-born Hispanics oppose giving licenses to illegals. That means 60% of hispanics would have no problems with Republicans cracking down on illegal immigration. So what are we waiting for????
