Anybody want to take bets that, as this was a new horse, it was an expensive horse, one a beginner has no business on? There's a saying, "old horses for young (or new) riders, old riders for young horses". Heaven forbid Madonna be seen on an old experienced babysitter. We have to keep up appearances, you know.

More people get in trouble trying to ride horses they're not ready for than anything else, and in many cases, the horse ends up paying by being sent to auction.

I'd agree on absolutely on the first part.... But breaking young horses is not a job for the old... I can't take the hits I took when I was younger. ;~D
